As a local photographer, I've had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people and witnessing so many unique weddings unfold, and during this time, I've learned a trick or two!
So I decided to write my Ultimate Lincolnshire Wedding Guide to share with local nearly-weds on their very own journeys to "I do".
The guide is packed full of tips, tricks, checklists, statistics and inspiration for all aspects of wedding planning. It's an extremely useful resource if you're newly engaged and have no idea where to start, or if you're already close to the big day and want to make sure you've considered everything.
A few quick facts:
1. 39% of couples spend between 12 and 24 months planning their wedding
2. The most popular months to get married are August and September
3. Couples hire an average of 10 different vendors for their wedding
Where do we start?
I highly recommend starting with a mood board so you can visualise exactly what it is you're wanting, you can also share your board with your vendors to easily communicate what you're looking for; for it will also help massively when you're scouting the venues.
Drafting your guest list is also high up on the list, as this will give you a much more accurate idea of how much space you will need at your venue and how big of a budget you'll need.
Shortlist some dates. This is likely going to be the trickiest part as there are so many things to consider; peak times, school holidays, the weather/temperature, bank holidays and even birthdays.
Make a list of your absolute must have vendors; what is an essential part of your vision? Perhaps a photographer or videographer, or maybe a guest-dazzling firework display!
Next up: Budgeting!
Dates can affect prices. Consider your ceremony; contact your chosen church, registry office and/or venue to enquire about the dates you've shortlisted. With any luck, they'll all have a mutual date in common!
Send out pricing enquiries to your vendors, once you have those figures, you can make more reasonable assumptions on your goal as well as any additional time you may need to achieve it. Couples often go over their budget due to last - minute add ons and sometimes even underestimating the average pricing in the area; especially when they aren't getting married locally.
It's important to remember that your wedding day is about what makes you happy, not about how much you spend! No one is going to mind whether the groom's suit was hired or how much your rings cost, but they will remember the emotion, the food, the booze (maybe) snd the good times!
Wedding Shows
Or as I like to call them, supplier speed dates! Hit the local wedding shows to meet multiple vendors all under one roof. Remember to take a list of questions with you!
